Fighter : An Iranian trooper fires on enemy positions. Iranian troops were poorly armed compared to their Iraqi counter parts, leading to heavy casualties. However, Iran, using its population size advantage, was able to push back the Iraqi troops after the first four years of the war until the U.S. forces directly joined in on behalf of Iraq in air and on the sea. ©1996 F.
